Religious Education Committee Meeting (4/23/2008)

Last night the Religious Education Committee met at the Sterling Building at 7:15pm. The five of us were pleased with ourselves for making it there with the use of only one car. (And a bicycle and a pair of feet.)

The theme for RE this summer is green. I don't want to give too much away, but we have some great stuff planned.

Now we just need some volunteers to teach.

Electronic Waste Recycling Event in Poulsbo

You know that you can't just throw away your old computer monitors, towers, and components, right? Small amounts of dangerous materials go into each component. If we were to simply throw these in a landfill, those toxic elements could seep into our environment. You can learn more about e-waste at Wikipedia.

Olympic Printer Resources, Inc. is sponsoring an Electronic Waste Recycling Event on Saturday, April 26th from 10 am to 4 pm at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. Items will be collected for a fee, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Impact Basque Ministry Program. Cinemaseekers.com hosts a provacative honor roll of spiritual films. Their top ten films are as follows:

The long list doesn't provide any criteria for what counts as a "spiritual film," nor how the titles were ranked. Still, there are enough films that I've seen and enjoyed on the list to make me curious about those I've never heard about.

Making my own list of films that have had a spiritual impact on my life, I would definitely put The Seventh Seal (coming next week to the Lynnwood Theater!) at the top, to be followed in no particular order by the Decalogue series, Winter Light, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Le Samourai, The Third Man, Wings of Desire, Greed, Night of the Hunter, Touch of Evil, and Waking Life.
